I want to replace the NIC to test, will pfSense automagically install new drivers for it or do I have to? Obviously I'll google that but I'll throw it out here anyway. So back to basics: Is there any way the NIC could actually be blocking inbound, is there any other switch in pfSense, anything about the way pfSense interacts with the NIC? So there's something more fundamental than just NAT or rules. Using the port testing site I listed above I still couldn't access anything. I removed all the rules and port forwards and actually created a wide-open WAN rule: Any source, any destination and any port. I came in yesterday to mess with it again. Screenshots of what I setup are attached. If you allow ICMP in the firewall rules, can you ping both of the public IP's?

Since you are using the aliases, I think it's time to take a step back in the troubleshooting process. I have a test environment where I was able to setup the port forward for SSH and it added the firewall rule. I too am struggling with pfSense with what I found very easy on a SonicWALL (IPsec).

Oh, the disabled WAN rules are where I tried adding rules manually and the enabled ones were the ones pfSense created automatically. And if I'm overlooking something simple, or not so simple, don't be hesitant to point it out - I may be expecting pfSense to be simpler than it is. Unfortunately I won't be able to work with this again for likely two weeks, and I certainly can't leave pfSense in place when I have a road warrior out there.Īny insights, as usual, are appreciated. Three screenshots of the NAT and the rules. Can't get in with mstsc.exe and this site also confirms 3389 is not open. You create some aliases, add a port forward, let it create the accompanying rule and that's supposed to be it. But the pfSense is supposed to be simpler and more straightforward. Yet I have no problem adding/changing things in it. ?2006 - 2015 upRedSun Corporation.I'm trying to move to pfSense from our Sonicwall since we bumped our Internet speed.Īnd the Sonicwall server wizard creates tons of objects and rules that can be confusing as anything.
